I broke through to the 6-figure mark VERY quickly...

And the second biggest financial leap forward in my business happened over this past year, at the same time that the economy was taking a nose-dive.

In that time, I've gone from working 20 hours a week to about 8 hours a WEEK (not a day) while consistently increasing my income...

Let's go back...

About 8 years ago, I was in the middle of a divorce and had just left a job that paid me less in a year than what I make in a SINGLE MONTH now.

For the first time in my life, I was completely on my own - both personally and professionally.

I had always wanted (in fact, *needed* is probably a better word here) to be my own boss, have the option to make as much money as I wanted, and have control over my life. This was particulary important to me to do BEFORE I started a family (mind you, I hadn't even met the right guy yet, but I knew that when I did, I wanted to be home to raise our children).

And just as important, there was a something gnawing at me - and it had been for a very long time. I knew I was meant to do more - much more - than what I was doing with my life at the time. And I knew it was my time and my turn.

It was truly 'now or never'.

I chose NOW and started my own consulting business with exactly one client.

In the beginning...

I did all the traditional things that everyone tells you to do. And what happened? I struggled and struggled to get clients! I was trading my time for money and I was getting nowhere fast.


But I was determined NOT to have to work for someone else ever again.


So, I immersed myself in learning from other very successful solopreneurs who'd already figured out how to make it work. I invested in myself and my business by hiring my own coach, and as soon as I started implementing the strategies and tactics I learned from my coach and other mentors, things completely turned around for my business.


In a nutshell...

I stopped struggling - to get clients, to make money, to enjoy my life. Today, I have over 5,000 people in my community and on my email lists, I work with just a few hand-picked fabulous clients, and I make more money in a month that I did in a year not so long ago.

I don't worry about money anymore (and believe me, there was a long period of time when I did). I don't worry about paying the mortgage on my beautiful home, which is a converted turn-of-the-century barn overlooking the river. I don't worry about whether I can wait another week to buy groceries, even now with soaring food prices and two kids to feed (you may know how much baby food costs!). I don't sweat writing out the large check to pay my daughter's private school tuition. I don't worry about having 'extra' money so we can go on vacation for the ENTIRE summer at a waterfront cottage.

My business now brings me at least 5 times more money than I ever made working for someone else - and there's nothing sweeter than that!

It's truly an incredible feeling, to know you're doing what you love to do, with the people you love to do it with, making the kind of income you love to make - and still have time to really enjoy your life!
